Mercruiser 350 MPI Horizon vs 350 MAG MPI Horizon

Hi I'm thinking about buying a Rinker 342 and it has the Mercruiser 350 MPI Horizon's in it.  What is the difference between this motor and the Mag?  Is the 350 MPI Horizon 300HP?

Yes the horizon is a 350mag,just freash water cooled.

Looks low on antifreeze and gear lube??

The Horizon may have ceramic fittings in the exhaust headers and some other longevity items. If you google Mercruiser engines I think they will show you the enhanced anti corrosion items in the Horizons.

My antifreeze line looks the same, came like that direct from the shop... have been meaning to fill it up but has never gotten close to overheating.. they did mount it somewhere else though saying that the location in the picture wasn't high enough.

Thanks for the info everyone.  The boat is still winterized.  I'm going to have a survey done and will check everything over before I purchase it!

The antifreeze on the other engine is at the same level

reneechris14    How do you like your 2005 Rinker 342?  It's the same year & model as the boat I am looking at.  Also this boat does not have the Fender holders on the aft of the boat.  I noticed some 2005's have them and others don't.  I thought that was strange.

Mine doesn't have the holder just a big trunk.Only have had mine since sept.,love it so far but its been in my back yard.lol.splash in 2 weeks.Did drive it home from NY,NY 105 miles,much different then my 270 I had for 5 years.

Right, some 05 had the trunk and some had fender holders, after 05 the 06 and 07 had trunks. I love my trunk as it is more covered storage. On the coolant tanks, I think they all have a slow drip where the hose connects to the tank. Both of my tanks had a slow drip so I clipped 1/2" off of the hose and added small hose clamps and no more drip.

More than likely the early built 05's had the holder and the later built 05's have the trunk. Just like the 270's, they switched the layout halfway thru a model year, which I believe was 2002. Early ones had the bucket seat at the helm. Later ones had the bench seat at the helm.
