1998 Gelcoat repair question.

Any pre-2000 owners use spectrum 2000-20005 white sand paste patch? Is there a big color variance between these years? The paste patch is no longer available for the 1995-1999 and can only buy the gelcoat in a quart. I just have small pencil tip size repairs to do.
