Ideas for cell phone mount

So I've got my vessel view mobile working perfect, and I want to have my phone running with the instant MPG right in front of me. I really dont want to drill any holes, thus so far I've only found suction cup and rail mount setups. Not sure if they'll be strong enough on a bouncy day.

The app only works in portrait mode, so it's gotta orient the phone that way.

Hmmm that's pretty cool. I assume just adhesive holds it to the dash?

Yes, and the great part is that it's strong enough to keep everything where it should be while out and hitting waves, but if you eventually want to remove it, you just twist it hard enough and it'll "rip" right off and not leave any marks.

Thats dang cool. Its nice I can get one for the truck too, so its multi-purpose. Gonna order one today.

Another idea is to use a RAM Mount setup like I have for my GPS.  It uses a clamp/ball mount on the windscreen support bracket followed by a short arm, another ball mount and finally an appropriate phone holder.

Yeah the RAM mounts are nice, but $50+ vs. $15 makes me want to try the magnet mount first. Plus the RAM cant really be used in my car.

If the magnet setup doesnt work to my liking I'll bite the bullet and spend the money on the RAM

Actually, I use the RAM in the truck as well.  They have a great suction mount/ball combination for use on the windshield and I also use a slightly longer arm when in the truck.  It really is a very versatile system.  All my vehicles/toys use the RAM system that way everything is interchangeable.

You'll love it, the only thing the magnet thing messes up is wireless charging... however all you do is put the silver disc on the case a little lower..  keep in mind I'm saying do not put the silver back directly on your phone, you'll have problems getting it off!

Thats a good point, as I do have a wireless charger. I'll def be putting the disc on the case.

This one works fantastic it's a self adhesive pad, it was $1.50 on Amazon

What goes on the back of the phone?

JoeStang Nothing, I personally have my phone in the case and just stick it right to the pad. It's going on 3 seasons and the phone has never fell off and it's still going strong.

Thats crazy to me, since thats what like a 45* angle? I would think any kind of decent wave would knock it off.

I'm here to tell ya, the adhesive pad is fantastic! My phone has never fell off in any seas.

Don't knock it until you've tried it. And for 2 bucks what do you have to lose. I'm just saying...

RAM makes a cell phone holder, with spring arms, so you can have just about any size phone and it will grab it securely. You can see it to the left of the compass.
