Too much trailer capacity?

Looking at a used non-Rinker only because it is 8 1/2' feet and has twin 4.3l's. Boat should be around 7000lbs with some fuel/water/stuff on board. The tri-ax trailer under it did not come with the boat (2004 Regal 2765) and is rated 14,000+ gross. It is my understanding that it is not wise to have that much difference btwn actual weight and rated capacity and that that boat could be damaged due to lack of flexing in the suspension. Length looks correct. Any trailer gurus out there? Thank. -Paul

I have a triple axle aluminium trailer rated at 18K and I use it to tow my 320 about 90 miles one way to and from it's winter / summer homes. The 320 is around 12,500 pounds empty - add fuel and misc. stuff and it goes up  - my guess is that I'm towing around close to 14K (including the aluminium trailer). I've been towing for 6 seasons and have never had any issues.

Better too big than too small. Trailer should be fine as long as the boat sits properly on the trailer. How loading and launching?

I have no experience with this situation so I wanted further opinions. I had previously read where this could be an issue. I have not tried to load or launch this rig. I understand what Al is saying but I think there could be a difference btwn a one time delivery and repetitive towing. Anyone know if twin 4.3's were ever an option on any 270? I regret selling mine. Thanks for the input. -Paul

No twins on the 270. The smallest boat with twins was the old 280 Fiesta Vee and the 290 Fiesta Vee.
