Struggling RPM'S

hello every1,
i have a 2014 260EC with a Volvo Penta 270 v8 with Duo props. I took the boat out yesterday and had a tough time getting on plane. I stopped the boat and lifted my drive there was a few weeds tangled in the props.  I tried getting on plane again and it did it but not easily. My RPM's wouldn't rise over 4,200. Does anyone have any idea of why my engine is not producing the power is should?

Could your hull bottom be fouled and need cleaning?

Plugs
Cap and rotor
Injectors 
Start with the cheaper thing and work up.

Just seen the other post on the alarm.turn battery switch off for a couple to reset.if it still Beebs it must be rectified.

Thanx guys, the hull was pretty dirty and that helped but its still not putting the power out

I do have my engine alarm that keeps cherping. The alarm is sounding due to a sensor on the drive causing my gauge not to work. Does any1 no if there is some type of safety on it not causing the motor to produce more power bcause of it?

the boat will be pulled next Monday but I would like some opinions on what to start diagnosing

Yep.  A big chunk of the alarms will put a mercruiser into Guardian mode and limit it to 80% max power output.  Not sure about Volvo but i would bet it is similar.
