compass freaking out

this weekend I noticed the compass on my 98 266 FV wasn't tracking along the horizon, seemed to be somewhat right on heading though.  Is this something that can be fixed? Or full on replace unit? I know nothing about compasses - what's OEM?  Are there better ones now if I need to replace?

It is shot. When off kilter like that it is no good anymore.

That normally happens when aliens are attacking.

Take it off flip it over so the air goes back on top.Screw back down it will be ok.OEM is original engineered material.and yes this is the aliens doing Thier thing

If he's lost fluid, it will not right itself. Usually mineral spirits is the fluid and even a pin hole leak lets it evaporate. Then the story ends.

awesome, thanks for the input everyone.  i also asked the local compass repair guy to see if he could fix it http://www.greatlakescompass.com/ and he confirmed the same, compass is shot and recommended a ritchie F-83 as a replacement.

F83 installed- had to cut the opening bigger w jigsaw, but otherwise pretty easy job
