Boat dies after decelerating from high power

My boat always dies after decelerating from high power after pulling a skier .

Thinking about adjusting the idle set screw?

Any suggestions

Boat has had a complete top end overhaul all ignition parts have been changed this season

So is it carbureted? Details can help.

Raise the idle screw up slightly, and see if the engine still stalls out.

Carb or fuel injected?  I'm running into the same issue with my MPI 5.0L Merc.  In my case, it looks like it's an IAC issue (in the process of replacing IAC and IAC filter).

Try powering down slowly instead of abruptly

IAC replacement...couple of bolts after removing flame arrestor. clean arrestors while you are there...
