2001 Fiesta Vee 310 without gen sound shield

Asking a question for a buddy. He has a 2001 Fiesta Vee 310. His gen set is on the port side and does not have a sound shield. He just bought this bought. Would it originally had a sound shield?

    I had the same boat, same year before my current. Great boat! Genny also did not have a sound shield. Not sure if it came with one but I highly recccomend your buddy make 100% sure that water can not get on the genny from drains or blower intakes. Mine got water in it and it was $5k to have it pulled and the electrical side re built.

    I believe 2002 is when the safety shield starting becoming standard.
