what it the routing for the lower shift cable?

I am installing my lower shift cable and do to how it all came apart, no idea what the routing for that cable is. I have googled it but have not come up with much - looks like the cable is pretty long and meant to wind around so it does not get into the coupler I suppose.....any clue??

That was a good site and did find similar- I was supposed to do the thing with the string - something got messed up in the process and the cable came out with no guide. I have been screwing with this all afternoon- I'm waiting for my wife to get home, hopefully she can push it through while I try to direct it to the side and get it around the coupler. This figgin cable has been the worst part of the while job so far. Thanks for the info Jeff.

I have done three cables on my 242, the first two got chewed up by the driveshaft after I followed the routing of the old cable, only to find out it was routed wrong to begin with. On the third cable the brass nut seperated from the cable housing where it comes out of the bell housing. That one was either defective, or I overtightened it. ( I think it was me!)

Lessons are expensive! I figure most of the time I can screw it up once and still save money plus know how to do it right nest time!
