Shifter cables

I have a 2004 34 ft fiesta vee with mercury I/Os. The cables are only one year old and they are really stiff to shift. Is there anything that would loosing them a little so it wouldn't be so hard to shift,

If they are only a year old maybe they were not run correctly. Look for "kinks" or "sharp" bends in them.

Have done that. When using the throttles starboard harder to shift.

My 03 310 is the same on the port side, stiff to move, always has been, stbd nice and easy.

Are you lubing your cable ends??

You could also detach the cable at the drive and see if it moves freely.
