Cupholders don't drain?

is it just mine or are everyone else's cupholders not removeable and don't have a drain hole in them. Got caught out this afternoon with just the Bimini and noticed my lighter floating in a cupholder. 

Guess I'll try sponging them out. 

Its a 280 btw.

I have an 06 390 and have the same problem. I need to replace mine with some that drain or drill holes in them for sure.

I was thinking of drilling a hole in them but then they could drain onto things like wires and dry stuff... such a silly design.

yeah, none of mine drain either..on a 2004 270.. like you said, don't want to drill into them because then it'll just drain into who knows where..

Strange some had tubes and some didn't. Wonder if that was a qc thing that was missed. 

We just got the boat last week and love it a lot, but there are a few quirks that are annoying like that. 

As well noticed when when it does rain the step into he cabin holds water. The drain looks like it's to starboard but the boats lists slightly port with a full tank of fresh water. Nothing drains and when you open the cabin doors it comes in. Another silly design aspect.

Listing usually comes from modifications or cargo distribution.  Is there anything heavy stored on the port side that you could relocate to starboard?

After it rains I suck the water out of my cockpit cup holders with a Stream Machine water gun, works great. Has anyone replaced the white plastic cup holders with the stainless ones? How do you best remove the old ones?

They just pulled out for me. Sort of stuck there but eventually pulled away and cleaned up the hole carefully with a blade leaving some of the soft plastic in there to snug the new ones. For ease of cleaning I didn't stick them down, they sit well using the provided double sided tape merely as a cushion. Except the helm one, had an odd shape so I stuck that.

I've read people have used fishing line to cut the sealant around the top of the cup holders.

I don't have cup holder issues on our 270, 2005- but the map pocket drives me crazy!

2002 FV270 have holes with tubes that drain into bilge.

Use fishing line to "cut" the sealant and then they will pull out with ease.

Some of mine have holes and others don't. It all depends on their location on the boat. At the helm, mine don't drain. Probably due to the wiring and electronics that are there.

Thanks for the tips on removal of the old plastic cup holders. Where is a good place to buy the stainless ones. Great Lakes Skipper?

I'm glad I'm not the only one who has this issue....I have a choice, use my shop vac every time I get to the boat, or soak it up with a rag and wring it out ....drilling a hole is not an option, as it will go directly into the bilge. Installing new ones with drain holes won't help, as the only place for it to drain...even with drain tubes, is, into the bilge.  A cup holder with rain caps would be a good idea for the outside.

Just wondering why is it a problem for them to drain into the bilge? Where else would they drain to??????????
