Throttle friction question

as most have seen in another thread I recently blew my stbd coupler 100 miles from home and had a local mechanic there pull the boat and replace the bad coupler. All good there. But now the stbd throttle is much stiffer than the port. I noticed it when leaving the repair as I went to throttle up and really had to push hard to get past 2k rpm and went back in. Mechanic got in and made adjustments on the engine. Got better but not the same as the port. I told him it was not the same but he said it was in the exact spot it should be and since it worked fine,just stiffer, we left for home.  Actually since I bought the boat I've wanted more friction so the stiffness is not bad just now one side is stiffer than the other. Two questions:
1- how can it now be stiffer after a coupler change?
2- is there an easy way that I can either make the stiff one looser or the loose one tighter?

You also have fine Adjustment under the cover for each control

Thanks, I will check the cable. How do I adjust friction on my throttles?

Raise the top cover and you will see friction screws and ball lock screw

@Liberty44140 Did you look at the throttle lever itself on the engine?  The nut could be backed off a little to loosen up the friction.  I adjusted mine and noticed it was too tight also.

I think it's called a 4500 commander model maybe a version 2.  You should be able to search.

The center plastic cover comes off
2 adjustment screws per lever
cover should just pop off
should be little push latch either on the front or back of the cover

I never ended up opening the throttle case to look at the friction screws. I will this winter probably. I had my mechanic on the boat and mentioned this to him, he looked at my linkage on top of the engine and noticed that it was not put back together correctly after my coupler replacement. It looked fine at first but once he took the nut off he realized it was off. 10 min and a 7/16 wrench he put it back together and its smooth again.
