WHATS WRONG WITH MY GENERATOR

I have  a 5k Kholer genny.When the switch on genny is in the AUTO  position and the switch is off in the  ele ctrical  panel the hour meter is ON sucking the life of my genny battery.So i have to open the hatch and close  the  run,off,auto switch to off and the white toggle switch. When i need the genny i have toopen the engine hatch and turn the white toggle switch to upper position and  the  switch back to auto ..What is  wrong with my system tks  for your help

Hour meter shouldn't be sucking the life out of your battery to begin with but it also shouldn't be running all the time.

If the hour meter was draining a battery it would be adding hours to the meter. How you know the meter is draining the battery?

It sounds like you have a short in the switch.

Are you saying the breaker at the remote panel in the galley should cut out all power to the genny

Or the hot wire to the meter is wired to the wrong side of the switch

THE isolator remote is in the engine hatch,go figure.  got the marine  tech from my marina  to replace existingwit h an isolator about engine  compartment  .all fixed
