spark plugs...standard vs iranium

What's the big difference?  Is there a performance reason to go with the more expensive iranium?

iridium last longer, however if you have easy access to the plugs they are a waste. They are used in applications where engine removal is required to change the plugs alot, in automotive engines.

Use standard plugs, gap them correct and use the correct heat range and you will be golden.

@skennelly Iridium is a very hard metal or mineral found on the periodical scale in science class. As far spark plugs go they last for ever. 500 hrs for me would be 10 year's see that's for ever.

I used the NGK iridium because they were recommended by Merc. They have been fine in my 6.2MAG.

Yeah Cableguy...that's what I saw too.  I put standard plugs in last spring and I'm concerned I did something wrong.  Mine is a 2002 not sure if the recommendation goes back that far.

Maybe I read the parts catalog wrong. I take it the Blue is the current part and the one below is the one that the blue superseded.

Should plugs wait until 500 hour or is there a time frame, say 5 years, that they should be changed?

I see the 350mag now recommends NGK ITR4A15

I used to get my Iranium spark plugs directly from Tehran, but the sanctions ended that.
