Keep birds from sitting on bow rail

as the year goes on we have issues with birds sitting on bow tails and going #2 all week. Boats become literal sh*t storms. We went to these kits and wow what a difference. No more crap. These fit my 342 rails fine, I need almost 2 kits to do it right. $13 a kit delivered:

Those can help. Sometimes.  A slipmate with a 42 SR has sea gulls all over his. He's tried about everything and they just go around it or deal with it.  His boat gets covered in ca-ca.

Nice looking boat! Our issues are small birds, maybe gulls are more persiststant. Has be used something like this on the rails and the gulls still sat on the rails?

They drive me nuts.  You can install a flag of your favorite island/etc and that can deter them a bit as it whips in the wind.  They always sit right by the bow light on my boat.  
Thats an interesting idea on the bird kit.

When I was last in Australia on the harbor I couldn't work out what these weird rotor things were on many boats that moored out, seems they are there to spin in the breeze and scare off the birds. Wish I had a photo.

Those spinner things work for a day. The Gulls figure them out fast.  At least around here. 

BTW: can't shoot sea gulls here: protected.  For unknown reasons.

Gulls are protected here too. We use bait fish with rat poison. They seem to get the message and pass it on.
