What kind of alarm?  Single beep, continuous beep?  What motors?

Could have knocked off a sensor wire while in there.  Something for temperature or oil pressure.

probably a flow or temperature sensor sounding off... at idle there is very little flow.  if the impeller (either engines circulation pump or the raw water pump) is getting tired, it could easily happen at idle, and that is most often when/where you'd get your first warning.

Do you have a fume detector?  They can sometimes perform a self test that goes till you hit the mute button on the sensor console.
