Some members are asking what are "Points". Good question as I will try to explain to the best of my knowledge. Points are rewarded to a post by the "reaction" of the post. Example if someone on the forum give a post an "LOL" that is worth a certain amount of points. So any positive reaction to a post is worth between 1 and 5 points. However any negative reaction will subtract points. So there you have it. Points......

Promote is the only one that gives 5 points.  The rest give one point.  Off-topic, Spam, abuse, and troll all give -1 pt.

@Dream_Inn the promote button may be a mod feature.  I only see Flag,Quote, Off Topic, Insightful, Disagree, Agree, Like, Awesome and LOL

Just because someone may disagree with you doesn't mean your response is negative. 

Not sure I see the point of it, no pun intended. The objective is to share and learn, not beat a high score.

Disagree does not give neg point.  Here is what disagree states "Users that disagree with a post can give their opinion with this reaction. Since a disagreement is highly subjective, this reaction doesn't promote or bury the post or give any points."

Thanks for the clarity. Same comment applies though, what is the use of points anyway. I value the commentary and knowledge shared, not whether someone has scored more points or posts.

The fact you have to go look for points devalues them, seeing posts to me adds a little credibility in that whomever is posting is active and interested.

Therefore the points are, dare I say it, pointless

Okay mod, promote me, I need more points.

I see them as the same as keeping points in Solitare.... some people just like to keep score!

Guys I think your making to big of a deal out of the "points" its only there to try and help with participation of the forum. Someone might want to participate just a little more to get a point or 2.  They really are no big deal.
