Thread on greasing hatch actuator screw

WillhoundWillhound Member Posts: 4,208 ✭✭✭✭✭
Could have sworn I saw a thread earlier this year regarding how to disconnect the hatch actuator and tie it off, and run the screw up past the shaft to grease the threads directly. Have greased the actuator itself but still noisy so want to try this. Can't seem to find the thread now, been searching for a while.
Does anybody remember it?

If you drive it all the way up, pull it out of the boat and then grab the black casing, it unscrews from the motor/gearbox assembly and then you can slide it up (and off if you take off the top mount). On mine the piston had come unthreaded from the part that goes along the screw so I tightened that up and so some loctite on that won't hurt either.
