PlasDeck or is there better, cheaper solution?

Bought a 2003 342 this Spring and looooove her. Planning to do the top deck and swim platform with a synthetic teak decking over the winter.  Plasdeck seems like a great product and has a 342 template, but curious what others have used?  Love this forum!

I compared Plasdek and Marine Mat just 2 weeks ago.

I went with the Marine Mat as it was a lot cheaper than the Plasdek. I found it was really a different type of product. The mat is a closed cell foam type product and just sticks down while the Plasdek needed to be glued and was a harder composite. It was nice but just not in my budget.

I am making up a template now for Marine Mat, out of all the samples I got from various places this was the most impressive and for the price quoted. I am going snap in for the cockpit area where the carpet was and likely stick down for the swim platform.

Did the Plasdeck on 2 yrs ago on our 276. Swim platform, walk thru & the step down into the cockpit.

We have a navy hull, so I used the silver/blue stripe PlasDeck material. Turned out excellent.

shawnmjr: To fix that smudge - you can lightly sand the surface going with the grain. Also you can run a heat gun over the sanded repair. Really lightly, low heat. Any visual probs disappear. Pretty sure Rinker uses PlasDeck from factory now.

An anchor got dragged across our swim platform & smeared the colors. It sanded out & repaired perfectly. Pretty tough stuff. Use Starbrite deck cleaner on it as well - no issues.

According to their website, Rinker is using Marine Mat.
