Jabsco spotlight

The Jabsco spotlight on my 2006 FV 270 works somewhat but is squirrelly. It will turn in all directions if I keep moving the joystick back and forth but doesn't always turn to the right without some fiddling. The other issue is that it is really loose and turns to the side when I drive. It can be easily moved around by hand, very loose. Any ideas on correcting these issues? It's the cone shaped shiny chrome style. I looked up replacement and it's very expensive. Any suggestions are welcome.

There is a white Jabsco searchlight I see on line for $200 versus $900 for the chrome. Wonder if it will line up in thesame holes on the bow tail and use the same dash template for  the remote?

Sounds like maybe the gears in the light are striped.  It should not move around easily without the motor moving it.

I would say probably on the mounts but I bet you can Google the installation manual which probably has a pattern to drill the holes....might not be to hard to fix what you have either!

Before I replaced my Jabsco with a Stryker GoLight, I found a place on-line that will re-build your light.  I never inquired about the price, only because the GoLight, with its LED technology and wireless remote seemed the way to go.  If its something that you may be interested in, I can go back and try to find that site, but it may just be putting lipstick on a pig, so to speak.  In other words , it may not be cost effective to repair when replacing may be around the same price and you get a new light with new electronics and a warrantee.

I found the repair company and emailed them JLHarvey Marine in Florida.

i bought parts and rebuilt mine.  new motor and mine worked perfect.  its pretty easy to work on.

Did you get the parts direct from Jabsco?  I'd like to replace the rubber boot at the bottom the light.  It's pretty much trashed.

I had the same, seal under the spotlight where the post attaches in was dried and done. Couldnt find a replacement so I cut some pieces of black, thin foam, rubbery gasket material that I had and I kinda shoved it in there. Worked out well, stayed in place and keeps a much better seal than the dried old stuff. If there were a replacement seal from Jabsco that would be great!

Thanks @Stodge but it's my the boot that cracked. It was the actual metal housing. Straight down the middle on top.

I think I will remove the spotlight and take it home fur the winter. That way I can have time to disassemble and figure out if it's with repairing.

i got on line and ordered parts from the manufacturer.  I think they came from the UK.  One piece was on back order so it took maybe 3 weeks for the order to arrive.
