I have 3 blade 22 pitch props on my boat. I wonder what 4 blade 22's would do. Hmm...

4 blades do wonders. Biggest difference is out of the hole and mid range cruising pickup. Like a different boat. Search around and you will see. Hill Marine are the best of the best.

The only problem is that he woulds go with 20p 4 blades... Not 22

Not if hes looking to just pickup the bottom end and have better all around cruising and handling. There is a signficant difference between 3 blade and 4 blade of the same pitch

I was told that if I went to the 4/3 setup, I would have to drop to 21 pitch props.

It really depends on a lot of variables. That is not necessarily true. Did you speak to Hill Marine about it?
