Anodes

Just had my drives services (new seals) sandblasted, new paint and anitfoulng. Do I have to strip the paint down to bare metal for the anodes to do their job? Boat in the Potomac River, Md

If you mean underneath of each of the anodes, I would say no.  I've not ever seen the paint beneath each anode stripped.  Using new hardware should allow them to have good grounding to the drive.

Dream_Inn I figured the bolts would be the connection to the drive. Thats for the conformation

Agree. In the future, leave the old anodes on when painting, but the bolts should provide plenty of electrical connection.

I agree. I leave the old ones on when painting my drive. That way the threaded holes don't get painted.
