Confusion regarding model year

I'm pickled with my 1984 16.5 I/O open bow and have had a blast on the water several times since I bought it two weeks ago. But, not being an experience power boater, I have many questions.
The question about the model year came up as I was shopping for a semi-custom cover. My crisp new certificate of title says "Hull Identification Number "RNK144608484, YEAR:1984, MAKE: RINKER, LENGTH:16FT 5IN, HULL TYPE: OPEN
One website thinks a 1983 V140 I/O cover will suit me fine.
Another urges me to buy
I guess my foundation question is this: What it the model and year of this boat? When I'm looking for engine parts, do I ask about the 3.0L as a separate question? Could it be a1983 power train in a 1984 hull? Any suggestions?

It doesn't seem that asking about 1984 RInker I/O Bowrider gets straight answers in web searches. Maybe it is a V165, euro style V-Hull. I don't know what that means. 1983 V140 makes a little sense because the engine is tagged "140" and the hull has a pronounced V shape, but the title says 1984
