Tough Weekend! 2006 342 Merc was running great. Came off plane and stopped for a min.  Went to start again and herd a terrible rumble and then a whine. Port drive will not engage.  Crawled over the engine and had someone put it in gear and sure enough the shaft is not turning when in gear.  I am assuming it is the Hub Coupler and engine and drive need to come out.  Anyone have this done yet so I can get an idea of the cost?  Also will the back hatch have to come off or can they just pull the pin and set it all the way up to rest on the swim platform?  Any advice or information would be appreciated for this painful time.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

 We did an overnight at a local cove and got stuck in a realy bad low tide this weekend and ended up "Plowing" out of the sand.  Could it be this caused it?

That'll do it!  Plus the items Al mentioned.  Hopefully you didn't suck up a bunch of sand too...

If you think you sucked-up a bunch of sand and you probably did I'd replace my impellers too.Good luck! MT
