i watched a how to utube video before I changed my cap and rotor and it showed changing the iac muffler. Never heard of it, but I ordered them anyway. Around $2 each. Wow we’re my old mufflers sure bad. I don’t see where they have been discussed here before. Here are pics of my old and new muffler, also the new muffler installed (they go just under the flame arrestor). Merc 350 Mag Horizons, 2006

I changed mine last year. The ones that I pulled out were as bad as yours. I am adding that to my spring maintenance. For $2, it's worth it.

Agree. I read that you can do away with them but you’ll hear the hiss of the iac so that’s not worth it and if they get really really bad they can get sucked in to the iac, definitely worth replacing. I bet mine was 12 yrs old

Mine was probably original, which would have put it at 10 years old. I would rather have it than not have it.

I changed my IAC last year on my 350 mag and found it is the same as the oem part for a Ford windstar with a 3.8 v6.
