Getting Blasted Again

Another winter storm hitting us in Boston pretty hard. Down pouring rain and 15 foot high tide with massive flooding. The highest tide is tonight around 11:30. Should be fun......  I have been in work since 4:30 this morning and not getting out till 9:30 tonight. Roads are closed buildings flooded. My yacht club has 10 of water in the basement (floor to ceiling) but spring is right around the corner.......lol

Had snow dumped on us here today, just done a final drive and deck clean up. Days like this tell me the decision for inside storage down the Hudson was a good one.

Nothing compared to Beantown or a FL hurricane, but we've had significant damage here in DC.  At the marina where I store for winter, three big trees went down ... boats crushed, four rowing sculls totaled, sailboats turned over.  My boat was rocking, but okay so far.   

Dogue Creek is literally empty.  It's only mud until you get out to the Potomac main channel.  The tidal Potomac is probably 6 feet below normal, and we're looking at another 12 hours of it.  I'm listening to it howl now.  

but, to quote a Mel Brooks movie:  Could be worse ... could be rainin'.

And most of our neighborhood is without power, but somehow we have been spared so far.

Yeah, that wind is just crazy!! My power has gone out about 15 different times today. The last one about 15 min ago. And most of my local area has wires all underground. My boat is hanging in ok on the lift. Glad I don't have to think about tides! Water is all getting pushed to other side of bay.

Geez, I thought you had to use ground tackle to fasten sailboats down for insurance? Not hard to do and not really expensive. They sit so tall on the cradles I thought everyone strapped them down?

I've never seen a boat with tie-downs here.  Of course, I've also never seen wind like this in 40 years living here -- not even Hurricane Isabelle.  

It's starting to calm down now.  I have about 20 huge trees at my house, and they all survived.  We never lost power for more than a couple minutes.

The tide never really went down. It only went down about 5 feet. Area's are flood real bad. Over 380000 people with out power. Winds are down to about 40 to 50 mph gusts.

The weather channel, sayin, LaGuardia Airport, looks more than a 65 mph wind, 7 deaths, flooding, 2 million with out power. Be safe.

Haven't made an official date, I'm flying home tomorrow, then coming back a week from today and staying till the 26th. Will be somewhere in there!

@LaRea , I feel bad for the crew team. Looks like they lost at least 6 boats!

Yeah, it's the local high school -- Mount Vernon Crew.  I hope they were insured.  Our yacht club supports the team, and I'm guessing we'll probably chip in a few bucks to help them recover.

Landed in lauderdale from Halifax yesterday. The northeast winds shaved 30 minutes of our flight time. That was one bad storm. Insurance companies have got to be feeling the pinch, or probably us.

Another Nor'easter coming Wednesday. More high winds and snow. Doesn't look like the tides will be as high. The flooding has been incredible here.

Just flew home tonight from the keys... looking forward to a snow storm, he's some videos and pics from the flight (sorry for the annoying noise on the video, I dropped my phone on the tarmac and smashed the screen to bits, must have messed it up!)
