Using generator with on board charger

I had a brand new 2000 watt inverter generator in the budget this year but a sudden need to replace my anchor rode and chain ($500) and some drive work has likely sucked that budget. I already own a small 1500 watt Homelite generator. I will stress, not for regular use but to provide a Shore power hook up while in dry dock for some maintenance. I get the point of inverters having "clean" power but is there any issue using the Homelite with my ProMariner 20  on-board charger?
