New to the Rinker family.

My wife and I signed on a 2007 270 Vista Vee yesterday.  As long as the survey comes back clean we will be the new owners.  I will have many questions in the following day/months.  First question is what size fenders would anybody recommend?   I was thinking 8x20" hole in the middle fenders.  There is a compartment at the stern of the boat that holds the fenders.  I'm not sure what size or how many fenders the compartment may hold.  Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Welcome, and congratulations!

Yes, 8-inch fenders should work well.  As a general rule, choose the largest fenders you can conveniently store on the boat.

If your boating plans include a lot of time tied up with other boats, consider adding a 15" or 18" round fender (sphere).  I have two that I deflate for storage.  I inflate them with a pump that runs from my cordless drill battery, like this:

Welcome aboard and congratulations on the new boat!

I have a 280EC and I use the Taylor Made Super Guard 8x26 fenders. I have 6 on my boat. That gives me enough to have 2 boats tied off. You never know who you are going to be rafting up to and the size fenders that they have. I have seen boats with the smallest fenders made. I also have 2 of the fender balls that I keep in my engine room for when I tie to a concrete wall. I like the pump that @LaRea has pictured. I might consider doing that to save on space. Personally I am not a fan of the HTM fenders. I had them on my 232cc. When I sold the boat, they went with it.

Don't forget the Taylor made have a life time warranty. I also carry 6 8x20 with the though rope alloys me tie off sideways if there is a pole on a fixed dock. Oh and congrats welcome to the Rinker life.

Thank you for the replies.  West Marine had a deal on Big B Taylor made fenders.  2 pack, buy one get one free.  I went with the 8x20" hole in the middle.  Looking forward to this season.  KC is my initials.  We will be floating on Seneca Lake.

Welcome @cotnerkc and congrats on the boat. Hopefully the survey comes back clean. There are several 270/280 owners on here and a lot of helpful info.

Yes welcome- I agree on the fenders...I have two that I store on the stern, would love to get the storage on the bow rail and have 4 more of there. I do store my other fenders under the trash can by the sink- lots of storage under there for stuff you don't crab often. I usually tie off on so I don't need bumpers at the docks and I REALLY avoid parking right next to another boat when possible. 270 is a great weekend boat for two or two and a couple of kids. Be sure to put some pictures up when you get her home and all the details!

I live in central PA.  My wife and I slip the boat at Inland Harbor Marina in Waterloo NY.  Gives us the range of Seneca Lake, Seneca River and Cayuga Lake.  When we get more experienced we can go from Erie to the Hudson.  The survey went great.  Hardly any moisture was detected in the bilge and the same with the swim platform.
