Stairs Removal

Does anybody know how to remove the stairs on a 2000 270 Fiesta Vee?

There are screws buried in the carpet.  The steps have them on the edge, perimeter.  Keep hunting for the stainless steel screw heads .They're there.

I've often wondered looking at my 2000. The next model with what looks like the same hull had the nice open steps. Are the box steps on the 2000 era integral to the support of the cabin entry? Could you convert to the open steps?
