Gear oil change... Is it normal to have a tiny bit of water in the fluid?

@J3ff check the hose from the reservoir also, they can leak. If that’s the case you would see oil in your bilge.

yeah, no oil in the bilge, was nice clear water...

Yes you have a low oil alarm. In the pic you see a big bolt on the bottom right there are 2 wires coming out of that and they plug in to the harness.

Weird. The thing was basically empty and no noise..

It may have enough gunk in it that the little mechanism inside never went down enough to cause the alarm.  I've also seen it that it won't float back up because of gunk.  Good luck with the stern drive!
