Patching small tear in canvas

SpyderwebSpyderweb Member Posts: 915 ✭✭✭

Wife found a couple of small tears in back canvas of new to us 2008 330.  Largest one (pictured above) is about 1 inch.  Our thought was to glue a small piece of canvas over the top (about as shown by the box), to keep it from getting worse, possibly on both sides.  Considering an adhesive such as Shoe Goo or Silicone.

Any thoughts?

Best way to fix is to buy a yard of that color sunbrella online for $25 or so and then sew it on as a patch. If you have no access to a sewing machine it really would not be that expensive at a local canvas shop or sailmaker.

I agree with Liberty.  It looks like the thread is starting to pull out on the upper part in the picture as well.  I would sew a new piece over that entire portion.  I've had a couple patches sewn on mine over the years.
