Upgrading Throttle to Gen II on 232

Hey guys,
I am hoping to update my throttle (3000 Classic Series) in my Rinker 1999 232. The Trim buttons are giving me grief and I'm tired of playing with them and just don't like the feel of this old Controller. I would like to go to the Gen II Throttle but want to make sure that I have all the stuff I need before pulling the stern drive out. I have the 7.4L MPI (L29) motor and Bravo 3 Drive. Not sure of cable length for Throttle or Shift cables. I really hope someone has done this upgrade on their 232 and I'm not the first.
Any help or advice would be great. Thanks!
P.S. I did find a thread on Crownline Forum about the upgrade but wasn't sure how universal the procedure would be. (thinking that it could just be difference in cable length and that's about it, but would like to double check.)
