Yeah, I'm burning 36 at that speed.  The 342 is such a great boat!

Those 24 pitch props pay off. I have 22's and I was at 3600~3700 to stay at 28mph last weekend. I did move my pins on my drives and it planes off in 8 seconds  (fresh bottom paint) and mama has not had a chance to fill every spot up with stuff.

I’m similar to Chris, 3700ish rpm to be at 28ish mph. 22p 3 blades. Planes nice and fast though. Top out at 41mph.

    I have 3 blade 24 pitch.  If I could get 2MPG out of 4 blade props I'd switch.  :)

At 29mph, I'm around 3550 rpm and 40 GPH (maybe a tad less).  I usually cruise just a bit faster at 37-3800 rpm and get 33mph, 43GPH.

I cruise at 26 now on plane with the 4 blade props at about 2900 rpm and 18 gph. I top out at 3500 and 34 mph at 24 gph.

    Now that is tempting.

So to break even, assuming 2 sets of 4 blade Hills would run me about $2000, and assuming gas at $4/gal I would save about $77 for every 100 miles I drive the boat.  So after around 2,500 miles on the boat I'd break even.

We do travel a good bit so it should only take us 3 to 5 years for the props to pay for themselves.

We never get back what we put in. I think that is in the boating law book.
Agreed, but it would be an easier sell for that kind of improvement.  If I factor in re-powering to diesel then the price tag gets a little high.

No thanks.  Finally have them humming along like they're supposed to.
