patio umbrella on the dock base idea

I bought a 10' patio umbrella to have on the dock while hanging out ect..

I'm looking for some idea's to secure it so wind won't knock it over.  I can't drill or really install anything on the dock.

Anybody have any idea's?

Have wood pilings?  Use PVC pipe and metal conduit hold downs. Drop it right in the tube and good to go.

We do this. Not on the "dock " but at the dock.

I use one of the umbrella stands that you fill with water.

@Willhound - I had your idea, but on the swim platform...but I want something that would cover more of the dock area.

I use trailer tie down straps and strap it to a pole

Would you be willing to drill a hole in the umbrella and post? Then use a "D" ring pin to secure it? But then the post can lift from the base.

Just use a perforated strap to hold it in place, and then you slide the umbrella in and lock it down by screwing in the compression fitting.

Technically I can't attach anything to the dock...ie screw or bolt anything.  And the docks are very clean...no piling or posts at all to utilize.  There are some cleats that I was thinking could somehow tie the base into.

@skennelly the water base holds out fine for me.  But then again I don’t spend much time at the dock.

@skennelly ,I put up an angle bracket and offset the umbrella a foot over the water. So, technically it's not "on" the dock  .  I like it

Well,  if you don't want to attach it to the dock, either go to home depot and see if there's some kind of bracket you can screw down to one of the dock cleats or you can get something made up .

Following up...i bought a 60# base.  See how it goes.  It wasn't too windy this weekend so it was great.

If there are spaces between the decking either make a backing plate or use molly bolts between the deck boards. When you're done spin them out and walk away.

Our docks are floating but have cement tiles...there aren't any spaces in between.
