What are your RPM and speed when cruising? 2004 Rinker Fiesta Vee

DarkHawkDarkHawk Member Posts: 6
Hey everyone,
I have 2004 Fiesta Vee with  Merc 350 & Bravo 3. I'm curious about your cruising speeds and the RPMs you get. I've had the boat 2 seasons and I'm wondering if this is normal. My RPMs seems a little high from when I talk to other people. I have to get it over 4300 to get it anywhere south of 20MPH.  Just wanted to get a better idea from a similar boat. In the pic, I'm cruising at about 25-26MPH @ about 4500-4600RPM with decent water conditions. Would love to hear your thoughts and experiences. Thanks

my 04 270 with 350/B3 this weekend with about a half tank and 5 adults on board was cruising on plane at about 21-22 mph @ 3700 or so. Stock props also

Hmm, I had 4 adults about a half tank of gas, also on stock props.

My tach is off by 1000 rpms up high, just fyi. Yours may be too.

you can calibrate that faria gauge.  I have a cheap automotive test meter that will show rpm.  Put that on the motor watch reading.  Small screw hole in back of tach will adjust.  you can probably rent or borrow a meter from auto parts place for calibration.

Yeah, check the tach. They're notorious for being off. I get 26 mph at about 3600 RPM. Here is a link to a post I had last summer with pics of tach, speedo and GPS. To beat a sudden squall this past weekend I was comfortably cruising at 30 to 32 MPH at 4000 RPM.

    Yup the tach is off, 3800 at 28mph 22pitch props 350mag Bravo3 2.2ratio. Calculates to 17% slippage.
Love the redundancy of the GPS, but your in 2.5 feet of water!! Lol

    Redlightning,
I have same boat as yours.  It has the the merc 350 mag.  Just got it last Fall.  Tachs are off from each other by at least 500 rpm on plane.  And I suspect even the lower one reads high.  At 30 mph the lower one reads ~4500.  That's with half gas, full water and 2 people in calm waters.  WOT on survey last fall was 42, but tachs were useless.

Do you have any typical speed and rpm pairs for me to compare to?

Sounds like your tach is off. Like some of the other posts, I also cruise around 26-27MPH at 3700

I sure hope that depth isn't correct!!! 2.5 is doable, but not safe while on plane!

.....less safe when off plane! :-)
