Rinker Parts? rear door slide bolt

I did it, ...  I lifted the engine hatch with the rear door closed on my 2005 270 FV.

it was nice that the slide bolt had a sheer point to avoid damage to anything other than the bolt.    However, now I am not sure where to find a replacement that is correct.  It appears to be chromed brass. like the one here http://shop.torresen.com/ships_store/?p=details&ident=158123&mfc=Seachoice+Products&sku=35691&prod_name=Barrel+Bolt%2C+2-1%2F2%22+x+1%2F4%22&sectionid=8077

I'm just not sure about the correct size and shape, as I thought it was sort of a standard thing, so I didn't uninstall it before driving the 115 miles back home.. 

Captain Steve, is it possible to find a part number for this?

My mechanic did that to my boat only last week! LOL!

They replaced it for free. They got the replacement latch the next day and installed in 10 minutes.

Mine was made by PERKO.  Take yours off and bring it to a marine supply store, they should be able to get it quick for you.

I've seen it posted here a lot of guys are using a doll rod and painting it silver the wood breaks and not the jell coat

I'm a convert to a $.02c wooden dowel rod painted silver like Boomer said.....and I splurged and keep 2 spares. Simple and unnoticeable.

Thanks for the input. Yea, I couldn't believe the $30-50 price tag for the original slide bolt. I found a crappy one for a dollar at lowes, but I think the wooden dowl idea may be more forgiving like you said

I ended up using a small dot of JB weld to put the original back together and it's perfect now.. can't notice any difference from before..

paint the raised "Nubs" on the engine hatch switch at the helm with some cheapo bright neon nail polish and you wont do it again

I borrowed some of the wifes nail polish and I haven't done it since

Auto Parts Store -- parts made by Dorman. I think it fits old Toyotas so it might be hard to find at the local store. Might want to try e-bay

Any auto parts store has this. Great fix whoever discovered it. My transom door would unbolt from vibration while underway. Put that in a few years ago, problem and noise gone!

I have purchased the PCV grommets several times for me and my other Rinker buddies and have never had trouble finding them at the local parts store. Works great!

Will someone measure the barrel bolt itself and report the measurements? Perko makes 3 sizes and I'd like to get the right replacement the 1st time.

I am so, so happy my 2000 has the lift and swing hinge. Don't know why they ever changed it. Cost I suppose. I can lift my hatch with door closed and they juuussst brush each other but no issues.

Did you check Perko? They seem to have all those little hardware parts.

Definitely Perko and/or West Marine. I lost the black insert portion on mine and found an exact replacement on Perko's website, and West Marine carried it. Just measure and search, should be an easy find.

The rubber part is no problem. Just can't seem to locate the metal part... somehow it fell off in shipping down to FL.. can't imagine how... will take a look at perko, thank you.
