Shower temp surges

My 2002 342FV’s shower is acting weird. It used to be fine but recently it will go from super hot to super cold without adjusting the knobs at all. It will do that even when the hot water is not on at all. Not sure where to start. I’ve visually inspected all the lines and stuff but don’t know what to really look for.

Probably not your issue but just some fyi; When you start your engine your water heater will start heating up your water through the engine temp, when I start my engine the water gets much hotter than the water heater working on electric.

I wondered if that was the problem at all but it’s not. It does it when the engine hasn’t run in over a week also. 

Forgot to mention the surge seems to coincide with the pump kicking on and off.

The sun will make any water left in the water lines real hot. So when you first turn on the water it can seem like the hot water is on. Once the "old" water is cleared out then the water gets cold.

Seems like that may have something to do with the valves in the faucet.

You can also open up the pressure relief valve and expel any air built up in the upper part of the tank. It may be that the tank is only partially filling so as cooler water is flowing into the tank its flowing right back out again.

I've felt exactly what you are talking about as well.  You may want to make sure all strainers are clean.  I also added a small pressure tank right after the pump and it made a world of difference.  Now the pump doesn't cycle as often and when it does, you don't even know it.
