We have a little electric fan that we set on the steps to blow air back in the aft cabin

No, but I have an idea.  The duct goes through the aft cabin sump on my boat.  It would be rather simple to cut a 5 or 6 in hole in the starboard cover and put another hvac and put a Y in the main duct run.
