Fridge Condensate in a 2005 Fiesta Vee 270

I have often wondered where the condensate for this fridge goes. There must be condensate, right? I'm thinking this fridge sits so low in the boat that the condensate must go into the bilge to get pumped out by the bilge pump. Am I right? Is there a better way to get rid of this condensate? Does anyone have any ideas on this?

I would think there would be "condensate" from the compressor and related copper tubing, there are on most fridges - just due to temperature differential and humidity.There may be a drip pan under the fridge but it may also just drip onto the fiberglass. I'm pretty sure there are HVAC guys on this forum (Steve) who would know.

I believe that in home units there is no interior frost because moisture inside the unit is channeled out and that ends up in the drip pan under a home unit whereas on the boat condensation forms frost on the inside of the unit (around the freezer in most cases).

@Liberty44140...yes that's what I would expect if there was compensation...likely a bad door seal or something.

Right. All refrigeration units produce condensate. The question is where does it go. I'm thinking the bilge. Just looking for confirmation.

There is only condensate if the fridge has a defrost mode .Most dont

Ive had mine out there is no condensation on the outside and the compartment in the back has no drainage behind the fridge it just sits in the cabinet

He is talking about ice melt condensate like your house refrigerator when it goes into defrost mode. Most house refrigerators have a drain pan underneath. The refrigerators on boats do not have this feature nor do any cabinets condensate on the outside.

Defrost mode on my fridges are me turning them off and putting towels at the bottom of the fridge to soak up the water

Sooo none of the water in my bilge is condensate from the fridge. Good to know. I'll look for the source of the water elsewhere.

Could be air conditioning condensation drain or leaking ballcocks.

Dry the bilge and sprinkle baby powder and if thru hulls are leaking you will see a path in the powder.  Time to rebed them.

Right, look at air conditioner condensation and shower. Both should drain to shower sump box

On my 2003 - 270 the AC condensation hose is routed directly to the bilge.  I plan to change this when I get a chance to be routed to the sump box.

I have an 05 270 and the drip pan under the freezer in the fridge has a small tube that sticks out the back of the unit... When I turn it off for the winter, I assume some of it drips out the back.
