A few questions. The Sony CD player in my 310 has the USB port for the iPhone and an aux port. But when the iPhone is hooked to the USB port, I can’t change the song when on amazon music etc from the helm remote. I know there are some Bluetooth adapters out there that you can just plug into the aux port. Anyone have a good one they recommend? I just don’t want one that takes batteries. 2nd question. I like to use the river water water to wash the boat. My 310 doesn’t have the wash down pump option. Has anyone rigged up one of the pumps and just stick the line down in the water and plugged into 12v, and just used one as a portable setup, or will it even work that way? Any one pump you recommend? Thanks all!
Bluetooth: you need a new head unit, or your receiver needs power. The challenge with plugging in a radio device to your power is the ground loop. I got around this on my ManlyVan by creating a power plug that's only powered when the car is off - including a relay that disconnects the ground as well - and that charges the BT dongle. That way I have distortion-free audio while I'm driving around.
For the washdown - I've done this to run a livewell on a paddleboard in the Keys. You need a pump for higher pressure though - and that's where the challenge starts. High pressure pumps are usually diaphragm pumps, and not typically submersible. Rule makes one that has a hose, alligator clips, and a spray nozzle, but figuring in the 5 feet of head and a long hose - performance will suck. The best solution is a built-in washdown pump with it's own through hull, or sharing a through hull with another system that won't be operated simultaneously.
I got a bluetooth adapter that plugs into the AUX port of my Clarion radio. I got it on Amazon. I have it wired to the ignition so it only turns on when the key is in the positions to run the radio. That way it isn't draining the battery and only runs when the radio runs.
Thanks guys! I knew some of you would have some ideas. @Dude_Himself , on the wash down, I was just wondering if I mounted the pump on a board that I could just sit on the dock and put a hose in the water, would it pull the water up? @Cableguy Greg , thanks for those recommendations. I like those. I like that it could all be hidden behind the radio. I thocan got about just upgrading to a Bluetooth receiver , but don’t want to change the helm and transom remotes. Not sure if Sony has a Bluetooth version of that model that would work with those remotes. Also, I saw this Bluetooth receiver: looks like a simple plug and play, but would it do what I needed?
I liked it because it would turn on and off with the key. One less thing to drain the battery. The JL Audio one wasn't available when I purchased mine, or I would have considered that one. If you want a new head unit, you will probably have to go with a marine unit. I would do a lot of research before I pulled the trigger on a new head unit.
