Idles fine but stutters and stalls when put into gear.

Well the summer of engine issues has crept into fall...Did tune up on both engines (plugs, wires and distributor cap) and both engines start and idle just fine, when I move it into gear the engine runs really rough and stalls after about 3 seconds.  If I push in the disconnect and just idle it up it also runs fine.  Any ideas?

Sounds like your idle in gear is too low. Adjust it up a little and you should be good to go.

How can you do that with a fuel injected engine?

IAC (idle air control) valve spunds like the problem. If you have two motors, just dwap and try.

I didn’t realize it was fuel injected, definitely check the IAC.

I'll swap the IAC and try.  Thanks for the advice guys.  I had the outdrives rebuilt this year and they functioned well so far.

If your IAC is an issue it is more likely not to idle properly and need revs to stay running. Does point more to drive type issue.

can you see whether your props are fouled ?

water is pretty brackish so on a good day all the way up...maybe...Hopefully!

Interesting, when mine went it wouldn't idle, sounds like your was fine at idle but at load it wasn't controlling right. Good you have it fixed, did you not get any beeps 2 every minute?
