Factory transducer is loose and causing a leak

My 2007 246 BR is taking on water.  I have taken the boat out for the year but noticed the factory transducer is loose and water is leaking from it under the boat. Can this transducer be removed and replaced?  Access looks impossible.

Can you take a picture of it’s location and post it here? If you can access it you would just have to loosen the nut, pull it out, clean up and rebed with new sealant. I just installed one this spring and it looks like this.

Thank you for your response.  This is the only photo I have and it's from the bottom of the boat near the stern.

The best thing to do is remove it and rebed it with 3M5200 sealant, or a LifeCaulk product like aero stated above. I agree that access is a PITA, but there has to be a way. You might have to remove all of the contents in the engine compartment on one side of the engine or the other to get down there. Worst case, the engine will have to be pulled to gain access.

I removed my factory transducer and replaced it last spring in my 03 342.  I think i paid $120 for a new Faria one and didn't think twice about it.  I just beat it out from the engine compartment, cleaned up the sides and put in the new one with plenty of 5200. If yours is plastic....then i would really doubt that you are going to get it out without damaging it.

We don't have our 2007 246 anymore, but if I remember correctly, I think the transducer lives under the engine on the center line. I really don't know how you'd get to it without pulling the engine.

You need to be flexible and be able to work upside down!

Its plastic.  You can just chisel out the around the edges.  It has about a 1/2 lip around it that once you get rid of should make it easy to pop up into the engine compartment.  You do need enough room once you pop it out to seal it and tighten the plastic retaining nut.
