Out drive oil filling

Does anyone use an electric pump to pump drive oil back in?  I'm sick of the hand pump method...takes so long.

And it makes a mess, I always have trouble hose pops of the pump, oil comes by the pump handle.

watched a video where the guy heated the new oil in a bucket of hot water before pumping.  Changing mine over shortly and going to try it.

I found the trick is to cut the last inch off the hose, make sure the end of hose and pump are clean of oil, then install.  It'll be tight and will stay on.  Believe me, I've been there done it way too many times.  & for me, I am out on a raft floating in the water doing mine.  That makes it even more interesting.

I think it takes so long because the oil is so thick, and i'll bet an electric pump isnt any faster overall with the extra setup time.

Thats a good idea, but you def wont be able to use the sprayer for anything else afterwards.

you just dedicated it to that purpose, no doubt... 

as an afterthought, though, i just bout a gallon one at Lowes yesterday for $12 i think it was, to spray bleach on wood that's building mold from the storm... so.. it's not like you're out that much at all.

Very true, but they seem to last only a couple times and then then something breaks on them if you're using them for caustic or non-water based fluids. I'm on my 5th season with the bottle pump and its only $8. Alot easier to store on the boat, too.

I would think if that sprayer can push that oil so could a dc extractor pump...the same I might use for the engine oil.
