Radar arch removal

IanIan Member Posts: 2,778 ✭✭✭✭
2003 FV 310 with radar arch exhibiting the oft seen bubbling/cracking in paces, typically where the track screws were put in. I hav a guy to repair and can do in place but will be easier (and cheaper) if I cn get the arch off. On port side I can get to the nuts through the cup holders and some creative bending of arms, wrists and hands. But the starboard side has the sink top, bin and cupboard in the corner section that has no apparent access at all to the arch nuts. No chance from the engine room either, way to far forward. Am I missing something, this corner section doesn’t appear to come out easily to perhaps get to a void behind. Anyone else have this model and done same or am I resorting to either cutting an access hole or having done in place?

Regards,

Ian

If you remove the trash bin and look in towards the arch base, what do you see?  Is it solid fiberglass?

It looks like this, right?  (random web photo, not my boat)  Seems like you'd have to remove the lower cabinet and crawl in from there.

Yes, yes and yes. Problem is there is no hole that I can see up in that corner to access the nuts. Pulled the bin and reached in, seems the corner piece was put in after the arch was mounted.

that arch is aluminium , ya ? Can it be painted in-situ ? Look like alot of work to remove it , what with all the wiring running through it. good luck

Yes, it is and can be but you have to cover and mask everything else off the do the repair and it would be easier to do on a bench than in situ. The wiring is no big deal - TV coax, GPS cable (that is now redundant with inbuilt so will change for a wifi antenna cable) and anchor light - and can pull in draw wires to refit.
