Toddler sleeping onboard

Prepping to next season...I will have a 18 month on board.

Thinking about where she will be sleeping this year.  Admiral and I are thinking the aft cabin but need ideas to handle the potential roll off the bed

Thinking of making a long foam cushion to block her in but easy to move.

Any other tips from those with experience would be much appreciated.

Our daughter slept in the portable crib made by Guava on the V berth until she was 2 1/2. Now she sleeps in the aft cabin with my wife at night. During the afternoon naps, we placed her in the aft bed and she never had an issue of rolling out. You could place a pool noodle under the sheet to keep her from rolling out. We have done that in her big girl bed and it works great.

@rasbury - grandmas are too old unfortunately...plus we love our daughter being there

Ras I have 7 grandchildren there has to have limits on time especially if they come on the boat.

Have three little ones that sleep on the boat, youngest was 18 months as well this summer. They sleep either in the aft cabin or with mom on the V-berth, and I tend to end up on deck. I can keep a better eye on the boat, and no one can get past me.

We've only had a problem with the oldest child sleepwalking, and since got a $12 PIR alarm from Amazon that we put by the door - the kids can't sneak past it. I also leave a cooler/big bag in front of the transom door - just in case.

Put a life preserver on her. Can't roll over wearing one of those. LOL

Both our kids grew up from birth on a boat.  They will be fine sleeping in the aft cabin.  Maybe an extra blanket on the open side.  Ours did sleep quite a bit in the life jackets (as Handy mentioned) as well because they started in it and fell asleep.  Good luck and love seeing little ones start out on the boat!

@reneechris14 right there with you...5 grands and two great grands....and I'm 60!

I think we got a baby gate to block the aft cabin and then would lay blankets over it.  We would put something against it to reinforce it.  Had a fan running for them as well.  Add a tv / iPad and they never want to come up to see the sun.

We also have a fan in the aft cabin. I got a lightning to HDMI adapter for the iPad to TV. Now my daughter sits in the cabin watching TV while heading down river. She has gotten the sea leg thing down pat. LOL. The TV is also good for the parents when you need a "break" from your child.

You could try a child bed rail like this. There are supports that tuck under the mattress, I'm sure you've seen this before.

I might have to invest in this. That way I could go back to my old spot in the aft cabin.

I keep waiting for someone to mention a crate.  We have a nice soft side crate for our dog.
