Bottom line, I def wouldn't be bummed and would consider it money well spent. Sort of like the $110 I spent on the 4 cast and chromed bilge vents that replaced the falling apart plastic ones. No regrets. (except that now I have a target for the plastic insert! )
Discussed here:

I went with 4 of the Defender ones shown in the picture. These are basically covers, so I used the original plastic part underneath a couple of them to have something to connect the vent tubes to. What was left of the original plastic center was cut out leaving just the rim and the part going through the hole. It worked pretty well- they're a really nice piece, not just a thin piece of stamped sheet metal. Def want that because almost no one will ever see them tucked under the edge of the sunpad!
Also, if you go this route, no fasteners are included. Hit Fastenal or wherever for some screws, but make sure to get 300 series stainless, not just "stainless". The 400 series stainless that is typical at home improvement stores will rust in a couple years. They won't rust to bits like zinc coated steel, but they'll get dots of orange on them.
