If Rinker 342 trim tabs are only 18 inches, that is 1/2 the width the trim tab companies recommend. They all say one inch for every foot of boat. Maybe that is why they are often tail draggers. Is there room to go to a 34 and stay 12 inches from the outdrive?
@Camewithslip, I think that "rule of thumb" might be tailored more for smaller boats. The tabs on a 342 are plenty big enough. My 342 never dragged the tail, and it would stay on plane down to 15 mph with full tabs.
When a boat runs bow-up, it's usually a balance problem that should be fixed by moving weight forward and/or adding ballast at the bow.
Agree, factory on my 342 were just fine, never thought of larger, heck I’ve got 18” on my 390 and they are decent. Adding drop fins to just get a nudge more.
