342 new ac or buy used ??

can anybody help me out I'm trying to figure out either I buy a new unit or do I buy used there's a used ac with a new compressor but for $500 more I can buy a new one which way would you guys consider ??

All the work you are doing I would say new. Do you you get a warranty with the new one?

I'd go with new.  They are much quieter and now have the fiberglass (or at least non-metal) pan underneath that doesn't rust.  Most the older one's I've seen lose Freon due to water sitting in the pan and rusting out a line.  There are some topics on here of good recommendations that are quite reasonable in price.

New has the new R410 Freon as well

@Dream_Inn i read this thread before I'm considering the same unit but really two turn off about them first it only has 1yr warranty parts and labor second shipping cost is ridiculous

I'm  leaning more to a flagship marine 1yr labor 5yr parts warranty plus only 1300 new shipped vs 1800 for the MarinAire

R12 is no longer made. What Freon does flagship use???

Only problem I'd see with the flagship is it has only one fan speed (high).  Reviews are hit and miss, just like with anything.  I think you'll be much happier with it instead of something used.

I read the reviews and I'm not likening what I'm reading i just spoke them and they write one thing and say another I'll just buy the marinair more $$$ but overall good ratings and I appreciate your input and advice

And Marineair has gauges on it so you can see the pressures

Go to eBay and buy open box or used
make sure btu and configuration matches to what you have

I picked up a MarinAire (Yes, MarinAire - not the Dometic MarineAir) two seasons ago - still works great! Good support too - based out of Ft. Lauderdale.

Go new and go Marine Air. those units in boats work hard a lot of the time and often get the heck pounded out of them. For a few extra bucks get a unit with a proven track record, more program adjustments and quality parts available in then U.S. Mu 2 cents! MT
