Yes Vanilla is updating the site. I did not know that the change was going to be as drastic as it is. I think it looks great...

It seems to be more oriented to a 4" phone screen.  On a laptop screen or bigger, which I normally use, it wastes a lot of space.  I can only see 7 topics at a time, so I have to do more scrolling.

Yeah, I'm with LaRea on using the laptop.  That is about all I use and it definitely waste space.

For the cellphone, it seems okay. On the desktop, no way.  It's mostly wasted space, and seems like it's still a work in progress (hopefully)  The lack of colors seems boring haha.

Last time this happened it was back the next day. Hope it just happens during maintenance. I mostly use my phone maybe i just need alonger phone.

I get about 5 or 6 emails a day from Vanilla. They are doing quite a bit of maintenance on the site. I am not sure if this format is staying or going.

Sucks. Looks horrible on my Android phone. Slightly better on a tablet. Really hard to tell if a topic has been read or not. Why do the developers insist on trying to make it look like Twitter?

It's the trend now with web sites - make them more tablet friendly and have a lot of white space unused.

It seems spartan to me.  The red buttons do kind of jump out and scream at you.  The fonts are over chunky.  Not a very pretty change.

yeah, they need to take some weight off the font.  From 700 to perhaps 400 or 500 to keep their intent but lessen it's------- goofiness?

Getting used to the new site both desktop and mobile modes and it’s not bad. One think the mobile mode has me doing isn’t pressing the new button for ... new items. But it’s only an indicator, you need to hit the title of the thread. I’ll get used to it but I press it at least 6 times before I get it....

for those of you using FireFox....

go to 'developer' in your menu, then style editor... 
in the left pane, select style.css
go to the bottom of the file in your right pane of the developer window, and paste:

..... now make the developer window as small as you can without closing it... 

this took about 3 minutes to do, and to me it is better than the current getup... and, it's ALL in css not messing with function at all.  notice the left utility column scrolls for a bit and then locks to the page allowing you to easily nav to those sections.  

for those not wanting to go through this trouble, you'll get the basic idea from the attached picture/screenshot. 



yo @raybo@raybo3 ... can you pass that code snippet to the vanilla crew?  

if they would like- and if you guys want, I can really dive into this and make the page how we'd like it to be presented... this was literally 3 minutes worth of effort.  give me a few days and it will really pop.

stole that pic from the sunsets thread..... could run a tiny script to replace it with a random pic from user uploads... that would be kinda cool.

On my iPhone I’m back to the old way which I prefer. Thanks! And agree that I am grateful for this site, would take it with either view, but prefer the old way
