Fiesta Vee 270 gear ratio 2.2:1

Hi.

I have a Fiesta Vee 270 from 2003.
Mercruiser MAG350 MPI Horizon. Bravo 3 with gear ratio 2.0:1 and pitch 22 propellers.
The lover outdrive is totaly corroded. I have been offered a complete Bravo 3 with gear ratio 2.2:1.
Any experience with the 2.2:1 setup??

No, but most likely you will not notice any difference with that change.  You may see wot go down a bit, but probably hardly noticeable.

In theory a lower gear would accelerate better than a higher gear.

Are you sure yours is a 2.0/1 I believe the stock drive is a 2.2/1. You can spin it to see thr revolution to be sure. My 270 had 2.2 and 22 pitch props and i did change to 4x4 20 pitch.

How do you like the swap?  And which engine do you have?  The new-to-me FV 270 has the 350 and she's a pig.  I really don't want to re-engine so new props are on the list...

If you miss out on the local used set up check out SEI. They now have a b3 upper and lower for @4k.


If you go with a different ratio you can probably bank on needing a new set of props to maintain proper max rpm

Oh ..well the responder before my outdated response should know that the 270 is a bit of a pig with a 350 unless you run light. A 383 works but with that weight a big block should have been the standard engine option.
